MELBOURNE - Oct 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over western Victoria will clear eastern districts early Saturday whilst a high pressure system approaches Tasmania. This high will also move rapidly eastwards, reaching the southern Tasman Sea by Sunday morning ahead of a cold front which will reach western Victoria on Sunday night. The cold front will rapidly cross Victoria and Bass Strait on Monday morning with another front to cross Bass Strait on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart from possible showers and thunderstorms over the east. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds extending throughout.Saturday 25 OctoberFine apart from morning drizzle patches over southern areas and isolated afternoon showers over the southeast. A mild and partly cloudy afternoon in the south, warm to hot and mostly sunny over the north. Moderate south to southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.Sunday 26 OctoberIsolated morning drizzle over Gippsland and local early fogs in the south and east. The chance of thundery showers during the afternoon and evening, mainly in the west. A warm to hot day with light winds tending moderate north to northeasterly wind and then freshening over western and central areas during the afternoon. A cooler gusty westerly change reaching the west in the evening.Monday 27 OctoberCooler west to southwesterly change extending eastwards during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible near the change, scattered along the coast. Isolated showers in the south following the change.Tuesday 28 OctoberIsolated showers developing over mainly southern and mountain areas, scattered near the coast.
