MELBOURNE - Oct 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure extends into New South Wales from a high to the east of Tasmania. This high will move further into the southwestern Tasman Sea during Wednesday strengthening the ridge to the north. A low pressure trough is expected to move over the southwest of the state during Thursday, and into the east of the state on Friday, as the high weakens. A following front is expected to move through most of the state on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdaySlight to medium chance of showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges this morning. Slight to medium chance of showers in the northern and central inland, with the chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to southeast winds in the far northeast and northeasterly winds in the remainder.Thursday 23 OctoberModerate to high chance of showers along most of the coast and ranges, with a slight chance on the western slopes and plains and the chance of thunderstorms generally throughout the east of the state. Fine and partly cloudy in the western inland. Northwest to northeasterly winds, turning southerly on the south and central coasts later.Friday 24 OctoberSlight chance of showers on the coast, and northern ranges, and medium chance on the central and southern ranges, with possible thunderstorms on the coast and ranges generally. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds inland, northeast to southeasterly on the coast.Saturday 25 OctoberMedium chance of showers along the ranges with a slight chance on the coast and on the western slopes and plains. The chance of thunderstorms on the coast and ranges. Fine and mostly sunny in the far west.
