MELBOURNE - Oct 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east coast of Queensland. The ridge will gradually weaken today, before being reinforced by a new high pressure system that will move in to the Tasman Sea tomorrow. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine and sunny across the state except for a mainly slight chance of showers about the tropical east coast. Warm in the southwest and southern interior. Moderate to fresh northeast to southeast winds.Fire Danger - Very high over the northern interior and about the eastern interior.Tuesday 21 OctoberThe high in the Tasman Sea will push an onshore flow and some showers onto the east coast. Fine and sunny over the interior. Warm over the southern interior.Wednesday 22 OctoberThe high will maintain a firm ridge and shower activity along the east coast. Fine and sunny over the interior except for the chance of some isolated showers and thunderstorms over the southern interior near a weak surface trough. Warm over the southern interior.Thursday 23 OctoberA weak surface trough may bring showers and perhaps some thunderstorms to the southern interior. A weak ridge should continue to push an onshore flow and showers onto the tropical east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Friday until SundayA weak surface trough may drift eastwards across the southern districts, possibly bringing showers and some thunderstorms to the southeast of the state over the weekend.
