U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Oct 14/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long grain rice prices steady to 1.00 lower.  Medium grain rice
prices steady to 4.00 lower.  Parboiled prices steady to 1.00 lower.  Second heads
prices steady to 2.00 lower.  Brewers trending steady to 3.00 lower.  Rice by-
products:  rice bran prices steady to weak; millfeed and ground hulls price mostly
steady.  Louisiana Rough Rice price quotes mostly steady on limited current sales as
most inventories being placed in storage.  Rice mills operating at a slower pace
because of light to moderate wholesale/retail market activity.
   In California, medium and short grain rice prices steady.  Second heads prices
steady.  Brewers prices 2.00-3.00 lower.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices 15.00-
25.00 lower.  Ground hulls prices 10.00-20.00 lower.  Rice harvest progressing
moderately as warmer weather allows farmers to catch up from previous rains.  Bid/ask
price spreads on new crop pricing at wide ranges which has the farmers and mills
standing their ground.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Oct 10th, Nov 14 closed .01 lower at 12.585;
Jan 15 closed .01 lower at 12.735.  US dollar index on Friday settled at 85.91.
