VANCOUVER - Sep 28/14 - SNS -- Lentil markets maintained their bullish tone through the past week, with premiums for top two grades in Canada moving to a bigger premium to Extra 3 and No 3 Canada product.
This affects both export asking prices and prices processors are willing to pay to growers. So far this marketing year, the average discount for No 2 grade large green lentils has widened from U.S. $47 to $60 per metric ton (MT).
The change is more dramatic for lower grades, with the discount for Extra 3 grade large green lentils jumping from an average $115 last season to $157 MT so far this marketing year.
