MELBOURNE - Sep 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea is maintaining a ridge into New South Wales, while a trough over South Australia draws closer. Rain associated with this system will reach the western border later today, and is expected to increase during Wednesday and Thursday as a low centre developing within the trough passes over the state. Another high is forecast to move in behind the trough during Friday as the low moves rapidly away to the east, and this high should remain the dominant feature in the region through the weekend. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPatchy rain or showers developing in the far west later in the afternoon or evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, after some early fogs in the east. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening on the southern coast in the afternoon. East to northeasterly winds elsewhere, freshening in the far west.Wednesday 24 SeptemberRain areas in the west, extending through the central west during the day and reaching the southern ranges in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms in the west, and possibly in central districts. Fine elsewhere, apart from the chance of an early shower or two in the northeast. Early fog patches in the east. North to northeasterly winds becoming fresh and gusty in most areas, turning westerly near the SA border during the afternoon.Thursday 25 SeptemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms, mostly clearing in the west during the day although a few showers persisting on the ranges and western slopes. Northerly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change, reaching the northeast in the evening.Friday 26 SeptemberShowers along the northern and central coasts and adjacent ranges, possibly extending to the south coast at first but contracting north during the day. Generally fine west of the ranges.
