MELBOURNE - Sep 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large, strong high pressure system over eastern NSW is directing a southeast to northeasterly flow over the NSW coast and generally north to northeasterly inland. The high will move into the Tasman Sea today then slowly further east tomorrow, and maintaining a ridge across much of New South Wales. The next trough system to affect NSW should reach the west of the state on Wednesday, then cross the east on Thursday, with associated rain and isolated thunderstorms. Following the trough will be generally southerly winds and a few showers persisting on parts of the coast and ranges. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges in the far northeast. Possible isolated showers over the northern inland, near the Queensland border. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds inland, fresh in the northwest. Southeast winds along the north coast, east to northeasterly along the southern half of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions in the north, easing.Tuesday 23 SeptemberChance of isolated early showers along the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine in most other districts after morning fog patches in the east. A little rain or showers developing in the far west late in the day or at night. East to northeast winds.Wednesday 24 SeptemberIsolated showers over the far northeast, clearing. Rain extending from the west during the day, and reaching the southern ranges in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms in the west. North to northeast winds.Thursday 25 SeptemberRain contracting east with a westerly change reaching the northeast in the afternoon. Showers persisting on and west of the ranges behind the change. Isolated thunderstorms ahead of the change.Friday 26 SeptemberShowers along the north and central coasts and adjacent ranges possibly extending to the south coast at first but contracting north during the day. Generally fine west of the ranges.
