Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of Mount Gambier will move slowly eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A low pressure system and associated trough will move into the west of the State on Tuesday, then extend to central and eastern parts during Wednesday. A new high pressure system will develop over the north on Thursday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayA fine and mild evening with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Warmer in the west with fresh northeasterly winds.Monday 22 SeptemberFine. Warm grading to hot in the far west. Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds, strong and gusty in the west during the day, producing areas of raised dust.Tuesday 23 SeptemberFine and warm to hot in the east with increasing cloud. Showers and possible thunderstorms developing over western parts of the State, extending to central and eastern parts during the afternoon and evening. Showers more likely in the west and increasing to areas of rain in the evening. Moderate to fresh northeast to northerly winds. Milder temperature with northwest to southwesterly winds developing in the west during the afternoon.Wednesday 24 SeptemberShowers and areas of rain over the agricultural areas and southern parts of the pastoral district. Possible thunderstorms southeast of about Ceduna to Leigh Creek. Rain contracting towards the eastern border by evening. Mild to warm, hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds in the east, ahead of a moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly change developing from the west, reaching Leigh Creek to Mount Gambier by late evening.Thursday 25 September
Showers about southern coasts and ranges, possibly also extending to coastal parts of Eyre Peninsula, the Flinders, Mid North and Riverland, all easing during the day. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday until midnight Thursday are expected to be about 10 to 20 mm about the southern Pastorals, Flinders and the agricultural areas, reaching 15 to 25 mm over Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas, the Flinders and the Mid North. Localised falls of 25 to 40 mm are possible with thunderstorms and rain areas. Less than 2 mm is expected over the northern Pastoral districts.
Friday until SundayShowers about southern coasts early on Friday, easing to the chance of a shower south of about Port Lincoln to Mount Gambier on Saturday and Sunday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Monday.Product IDS10033
