MELBOURNE - Sep 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large, strong high pressure system near southwestern Victoria is directing a southerly airflow over the NSW coast. The high will be the dominant feature in the region over the next few days as it drifts slowly east, reaching the Tasman Sea early in the new week and maintaining a ridge across much of New South Wales. The next trough system to affect NSW should reach the west of the state on Wednesday, then cross the east on Thursday, with patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms associated. Forecast for the rest of Sunday Showers along the central and northern coasts, contracting northwards during the day. The chance of a shower near the inland Queensland border in the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Partly cloudy in the north, mostly sunny in the south. Early frost patches on the ranges, mainly in the south. Isolated early fog patches about the ranges. East to southeast winds inland, south to southeast along the coast. Dangerous surf conditions. Monday 22 SeptemberIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, north from the Hunter, more likely on the far north coast. Morning fog areas in the east. Fine elsewhere. Partly cloudy along the coast and ranges, sunny over the southern inland. Easterly winds inland. Southeast winds along the coast, turning northeasterly along the southern half of the coast during the day.Tuesday 23 SeptemberChance of isolated showers along the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere after morning fog patches in the east. East to northeast winds.Wednesday 24 SeptemberIsolated showers over the far northeast. Some rain developing in the far west during the day. Chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the far northwest.
