Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough and cold front will move through eastern New South Wales today with showers and a cooler southwest change associated. Cold upper level air will promote the development of a low pressure system over the western Tasman Sea today. The low is expected to deepen tonight and Wednesday and bring strong winds to the east and possibly gale-force winds to coastal areas. The low should move slowly away to the east Thursday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain areas or showers in central and eastern parts, contracting further east during the day, then becoming coastal tonight. Chance of isolated thunderstorms over central and northeastern parts, mainly this afternoon. Showers falling as snow on the southern ranges above about 1000 metres, and possibly about the higher peaks of the central and northern ranges later. Fine and partly cloudy in the far west. Northwesterly winds in the northeast of the state, tending southwesterly behind the change. Southwesterly winds tending strong and gusty near the coast later today, and possibly reaching gale-force along the coastal fringe between Point Perpendicular and Forster tonight. Dangerous surf conditions developing tonight along southern and central parts of the coast.Wednesday 3 SeptemberIsolated showers about the coast south from about Port Macquarie and over the southern ranges, with snow above about 900 metres at first. Fine elsewhere. Southwest to southerly winds, fresh to strong in the east and possibly reaching gale-force along the coast between Point Perpendicular and Port Macquarie. Dangerous surf conditions along central and northern parts of the coast.Thursday 4 SeptemberIsolated showers about the coast south from about Port Macquarie. Isolated showers developing over the far southwest later in the day. Fine elsewhere. Fresh to strong south to southwest winds along the coast. Lighter southwest winds inland, tending west to northwesterly in the west during the day.Friday 5 SeptemberIsolated showers apart from the far northwest, more likely for coastal districts south of Taree. Mostly sunny in the far northwest. Southwesterly winds in the east, northwesterly winds in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
