Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 31/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system lies over the central Tasman Sea, while a high over New Zealand extends a ridge into southeast Australia. The low is expected to remain over the Tasman Sea today, although it should gradually shift towards New Zealand. A cold front from the Southern Ocean is forecast to move across the state Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayRain developing across the southwest, extending to central districts and the southeast in the evening. Snow developing on the alps above about 1500 metres in the evening. Local frost on the tablelands. Areas of morning fog in the east. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. North to northwesterly winds, ahead of a southwesterly change in the west.Tuesday 2 SeptemberRain in the east, contracting further east during the day but persisting as showers over the east in the afternoon. Chance of isolated thunderstorms mainly about the central ranges. Showers falling as snow on the southern ranges above about 1100 metres, and possibly about the higher peaks of the central ranges. Fine and partly cloudy in the west. Northwesterly winds in the northeast of the state, tending southwesterly behind the change. Southwesterly winds tending strong and gusty near southern and central parts of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions developing at night along central parts of the coast.Wednesday 3 SeptemberIsolated showers about the coast south from about Port Macquarie and over the southern ranges, with snow above about 900 metres at first. Fine elsewhere. Southwest to southerly winds, fresh to strong along the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along central and northern parts of the coast.Thursday 4 SeptemberIsolated showers about the coast south from about Port Macquarie. Isolated showers developing over the far southwest later in the day. Fine elsewhere. Fresh to strong south to southwest winds along the coast. Lighter southwest winds inland, tending west to northwesterly in the west during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDN10031
