Lentils Unsteady Against Weather Worries

VANCOUVER - Aug 30/14 - SNS -- North American lentil markets finished the week's trading on a slightly easier note despite a moderate improvement in trading interest.

Canadian lentil markets were slightly easier against the availability of new crop product. However, just 8% of the lentil crop had been harvested by August 25, compared to 20% last year and the recent five-year average of 26%.

Heavy rainstorm activity which delayed harvest progress in much of Saskatchewan and the northern United States reminded markets of the risks associated with slower crop development.
