U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Aug 25/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                       National Weekly Rice Summary
                 (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California)
                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, old crop long and medium grain rice prices steady; parboiled prices
steady; second heads steady; brewers steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices
mostly steady; rice millfeed steady; hulls mostly steady, instances 5.00 lower.
Louisiana new crop Rough Rice mostly steady, however very limited current trades as
most farmers holding for higher prices.  Louisiana is about 60-65% into rice harvest
with yields reported better than average.
   In California, old crop medium and short grain milled rice prices steady; second
heads and brewers steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices steady; hulls steady.
Currently, very limited trade with most producers waiting to see what new crop
brings.  Majority of farmers have shut water off and waiting for fields to dry.
Harvest looks to start in about 3 to 4 weeks.
   On the CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday August 22nd, Sep 14 contract closed
unchanged at 12.825.  Nov 14 closed .08 lower at 12.725.  Jan 15 closed .08 lower at
12.925.  US dollar index on Friday August 22nd settled at 82.61.
