Beans Unaffected by Canadian Crop Report

VANCOUVER - Aug 22/14 - SNS -- Dr edible bean markets were little changed in seasonally light trading interest.

The only fundamental news entering markets was Statistics Canada’s first production of the year. It pegged total dry edible bean production in Canada at 300,500 metric tons (MT).

If realized, the harvest will be up 46% from last year, reflecting a 41% increase in seeded area to 346,900 acres and a 3% increase in average yields to 1,910 pounds per seeded acre.

Colored bean output is expected to jump from 140,700 to 199,400 metric tons (MT), while white bean output advances from 65,400 to 101,100 MT. This will lift production in the North American Free Trade zone from from 2.27 to 2.65 million MT.
