Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred just east of Tasmania today will drift slowly eastwards over the southern Tasman Sea on Friday where it will remain for nearly a week. A cold front will move across the Bight on Friday and weaken to a trough as it moves over western Victoria late on Saturday. The weak trough will likely move slowly across the remainder of the State on Sunday as the next high pressure system moves from the Bight towards western Victoria by late in the day. This high will slide south of Victoria and join with the southern Tasman high pressure system on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayDry apart from isolated showers in the far east. Mostly clear with generally light north to northeasterly winds and evening seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Friday 22 AugustEarly frost and areas of fog inland. Isolated showers possible in the far east and about the northern slopes of the ranges during the afternoon. Otherwise a dry, mild and mostly sunny day with light to moderate northeast to northerly winds and afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Saturday 23 AugustScattered showers developing over western districts during the afternoon and reaching central districts at night. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest in the afternoon and evening. A mild day with cloud increasing from the west and light to moderate northeast to northerly winds freshening in the west in the afternoon.Sunday 24 AugustScattered showers extending across the State but tending more isolated over the southeast and northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northeast in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds tending west to southwesterly from the west.Monday 25 AugustIsolated showers over most districts tending more extensive over the east. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the east in the afternoon. Showers clearing from the west during the afternoon and contracting to the northeast at night. A cool to mild day with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
