Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 31/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure lies across northern New South Wales, while a series of cold fronts are moving from the Southern Ocean across southeast Australia. This pattern is generating gusty winds over southern and central parts of the state, which will intensify to gale-force in some areas today as a stronger cold front approaches. This front will bring a significant cold snap to the region during Friday and Saturday, after which conditions should gradually ease as the next high pressure system becomes established.

Isolated snow showers on the alpine peaks, lowering to about 1500 metres during the evening and becoming more frequent. Fine and sunny elsewhere. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwesterly winds in the northeast, with a cold and gusty west to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Saturday 2 AugustShowers about southern and central parts of the coast, more likely in the vicinity of Port Stephens.
