Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends across the north of the State. A vigorous cold front to the south of the Bight will move across the State on Thursday. A high will develop over the Bight later Friday and then move east to be near the Victorian border Saturday evening.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about the southern coasts and ranges. Cool with moderate northwesterly winds, fresh in the south and strong about southern coasts.Thursday 31 JulyIsolated showers developing south of Tarcoola to Yunta, increasing to scattered about the southern agricultural area and increasing to widespread showers about coasts and ranges south of Adelaide with the front. Possible small hail and isolated squally thunderstorms developing south of about Adelaide during the evening. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the north. Fresh to strong and gusty west to northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwesterly during the day and possibly reaching gale force about southern coasts and ranges.Friday 1 AugustIsolated showers south of Tarcoola to Yunta, scattered during the morning about the southern agricultural area east of Port Lincoln and also about the southern Flinders Ranges. Showers becoming isolated and contracting to southern coasts and ranges during the afternoon and evening. Possible small hail and isolated squally thunderstorms south of about Adelaide until early afternoon. Possible snow about the higher peaks of the Mount Lofty and Flinders Ranges during the early morning. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about the coasts and possibly reaching gale force about southern coasts, easing to light to moderate southerly by evening.Saturday 2 AugustPossible isolated showers about the southern agricultural area. Fine elsewhere. A cold to very cold morning with areas of frost. Cool to mild during the day with light winds becoming moderate northeasterly winds.Sunday 3 August
Possible isolated showers about the Lower South East coast. Fine elsewhere. A cold morning with areas of frost. Cool to mild during the day with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday to midnight Sunday are expected to be less than 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and south of the pastorals, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, 15 to 30 mm about the South East districts and Mount Lofty Ranges, reaching 30 to 50 mm about the higher peaks of Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East coast.
