MELBOURNE - Jul 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A front will slide to the south of the State early Tuesday, ahead of a stronger front approaching southern coasts late Wednesday, which will move over the agricultural area on Thursday. A strong high will develop over the Bight in the wake of the front later Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers developing over the southern agricultural area, tending scattered about the Mount Lofty Ranges south of about Adelaide, and in the Lower South East. Chance of isolated squally thunderstorms about the Lower South East coast early morning. Cool to mild in the south, mild to warm in the north. Moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, strong about the southern coasts. Light and variable winds in the Pastoral districts.Wednesday 30 JulyIsolated showers about the agricultural area, tending scattered about the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East. Cool to mild grading to mild to warm in the north. Light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresh in the south and strong about southern coasts.Thursday 31 JulyIsolated showers south of Tarcoola to Yunta, tending scattered about the southern agricultural area and increasing to widespread showers in the Lower South East. Possible small hail and isolated squally thunderstorms developing south of about Adelaide during the afternoon. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the north. Moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, shifting fresh to strong west to southwesterly during the day and possibly reaching gale force about southern coasts.Friday 1 August Isolated showers south of Tarcoola to Yunta, tending scattered about the southern agricultural area and widespread in the Lower South East, becoming isolated and contracting to southern coasts and ranges during the afternoon. Possible small hail and isolated squally thunderstorms south of about Adelaide until early afternoon. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about the coasts and possibly reaching gale force about southern coasts, easing to light to moderate southerly by evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning to midnight Friday are expected to be less than 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and south of the pastorals, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, 15 to 30 mm about the South East districts and Mount Lofty Ranges, reaching 30 to 50 mm about the higher peaks of Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East coast.
