LITTLE ROCK - Jul 28/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, old crop long and medium grain rice prices mostly steady with limited available inventory; parboiled prices steady; second heads steady; brewers steady. Rice by-products: rice bran steady to 15 lower with the full decline in Arkansas; rice millfeed steady to 5 lower; ground hulls steady to 20 lower on limited current sales. Rough rice new crop prices .35 per CWT lower on limited current trades, however majority of producers opting to wait and see. Unseasonably cool and wet pre-harvest conditions are affecting rice crops as we are hearing reports of disease and pests in rice fields throughout the south. In California, old crop medium and short grain milled rice prices mostly steady on limited current sales; second heads and brewers steady. Rice by-products: rice bran and hulls prices steady to weak. Trade very light with most producers at a wait and see period. On the CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday July 25th, September 2014 closed .145 lower at 12.94. November 2014 closed .135 lower at 13.175. US dollar index on Friday July 25th settled at 81.04.
