Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system near Adelaide will move slowly southeastwards to lie near the the southwest Victorian coast tonight. The low will weaken as it gradually moves across Bass Strait and northern Tasmania on Friday then away to the east of Tasmania during Saturday. A high pressure system over southern New South Wales will extend a ridge over northern Victoria during the weekend. On Monday the high will drift further northwards and a cold front will approach Tasmania later in the day.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain in southern and mountain areas with isolated showers elsewhere. Snow above 1600 metres. Cloudy with moderate northeasterly winds.Friday 25 JulyIsolated showers, scattered over the eastern ranges and the southwest. Snow above 1500 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with generally light winds.Saturday 26 JulyIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas mostly clearing later in the day. Snow showers above 1500 metres. Cool to cold and partly cloudy with light to moderate west to southwesterly wind.Sunday 27 JulyFine apart from isolated showers near the west coast and eastern ranges. A cool to mild day with a freshening northerly wind.Monday 28 JulyFine apart from isolated showers over the eastern ranges and the southwest.
