Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will continue to drift eastwards during Thursday while a low pressure system just west of Adelaide will move slowly southeastwards to lie near the the southwest Victorian coast tonight. The low will weaken as it gradually moves across Bass Strait and northern Tasmania on Friday then away to the east of Tasmania during Saturday. A high pressure ridge will extend from South Australia over northern Victoria during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain, more extensive about the dividing range and over the southwest and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Morning frost and fog patches in the east. Cool to cold and cloudy with moderate northeasterly winds.Friday 25 JulyIsolated showers, scattered over the eastern ranges. Snow above 1500 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with generally light winds.Saturday 26 JulyIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas mostly clearing later in the day. Snow showers above 1500 metre. Cool to cold and partly cloudy with light to moderate west to southwesterly wind.Sunday 27 JulyFine apart from isolated showers near the west coast and eastern ranges. A cool to mild day with a freshening northerly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
