MELBOURNE - Jul 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low 1001 hPa over the Bight will move southeastwards to be centred west of Kangaroo Island on Thursday morning, then reaching Tasmania during Friday. A high pressure ridge will develop over the north of the State during Friday and Saturday, then move slowly east. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPatchy rain about the agricultural areas. Isolated showers over the remainder south of Oodnadatta. Isolated thunderstorms about northwestern Eyre Peninsula clearing this evening. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a fresh westerly change in the west.Thursday 24 JulyAreas of rain about the south-central and southeastern districts contracting to the far southeast by evening. Isolated showers south of Coober Pedy following the rain, increasing to scattered showers with possible thunderstorms about the West Coast and western parts of Eyre Peninsula. Cool with moderate northwest to northeasterly winds, turning west to southwesterly in the west, tending light and variable about the South East districts during the afternoon.Friday 25 JulyIsolated showers over of the agricultural areas and southern parts of the Flinders and Pastoral districts. Morning fog patches in the south. Cool to mild with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Saturday 26 JulyPossible light showers about southern coasts and ranges. Morning fog patches in the south. Cool to mild with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.Sunday 27 JulyFine. Cool to mild with moderate northerly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday to midnight Sunday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm about the west coast, agricultural areas and far south of the North West Pastoral, possibly reaching 20 to 30 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges. Totals of 2 to 10 mm are expected over the remainder south of about Woomera, with less than 2 mm further north.Monday until WednesdayShowers developing from the southwest across southern parts.
