MELBOURNE - Jul 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system over Victoria will drift eastwards to the Tasman Sea on Wednesday as a low pressure system and associated trough crosses waters south of the Bight. The trough will weaken as it moves across Victoria late Thursday and during Friday. A high pressure ridge will extend from South Australia over Victoria during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayWidespread early frost with areas of morning fog then a fine, cool to cold day. High cloud increasing from the west with patchy rain developing in the far west during the evening. Light winds tending light to moderate northeasterly from the west.Thursday 24 JulyPatchy rain, more extensive about the dividing range and over the west and falling as snow above 1400 metres. Cool to cold and cloudy with moderate northeasterly winds.Friday 25 JulyAreas of rain over the northeast easing. Scattered showers elsewhere, becoming isolated from the west. Snow above 1400 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with generally light winds.Saturday 26 JulyIsolated showers about the eastern ranges and near the coast with snow showers above 1500 metre.
