Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low 1009 hPa over the west of the Bight will move east southeast, to be centred west of Kangaroo Island on Thursday morning, near Kangaroo Island on Thursday evening then move east of the State during Friday. A new high pressure ridge will develop over the north of the State over the weekend then move slowly east.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPatchy rain in the west extending over the remainder southwest of Oodnadatta to Marree, increasing to areas of rain over western and central districts south of Tarcoola. Possible isolated thunderstorms about the West Coast and far south of the Northwest Pastoral. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh at times during the afternoon, turning fresh to strong westerly in the west during the afternoon.Thursday 24 JulyAreas of rain southeast of Port Lincoln to Port Augusta to Hawker contracting to the eastern border in the afternoon. Isolated showers south of Coober Pedy following the rain, scattered with possible thunderstorms about the West Coast and western parts of Eyre Peninsula. Cool with moderate northwest to northeasterly winds, turning west to southwesterly in the west, tending light and variable about the South East districts during the afternoon.Friday 25 JulyScattered showers about the western coast of Eyre Peninsula and about southern coasts and ranges, easing to isolated showers by evening. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area and southern parts of the Flinders and Pastoral districts. Possible thunderstorms about western coasts of Eyre Peninsula during the early morning. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Saturday 26 July
Possible light showers over the southern agricultural area on Saturday, contracting to southern coasts by evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning to midnight Saturday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm about the west coast, agricultural area and far south of the Northwest Pastoral, possibly reaching 20 to 30 mm about the west coast of Eyre Peninsula and the Mount Lofty Ranges. 2 to 10 mm over the remainder southwest of Ernabella to Yunta. Less than 2 mm to the northeast.
Sunday until TuesdaySlight chance of showers about southern coasts, more likely over Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East on Sunday. Cool to mild with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh about the coasts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Wednesday.Product IDS10033
