Beaners Watching Weather

VANCOUVER - Jul 18/14 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets were mostly sideways in limited trade during the past week. Markets are still paying close attention to the weather in major producing regions, which is making it hard for new crop markets to respond to higher seeded areas for some classes of beans.

Processors in the United States were pleased to the USDA include pinto beans in the first tender which is for shipment exclusive in new crop positions. However, at just 340 metric tons (MT) of pinto beans, the quantity is not enough to move markets.

There is good evidence minor classes of beans attracted grower interest outside North America this year, with some traders starting to worry about medium and longer term price direction.
