U.S. Bean Crop Condition Good

WASHINGTON - Jul 15/14 - SNS -- Edible bean crops in the United States remain in mainly good to excellent condition, though more concerns are being expressed about weather conditions in some growing areas, judging from the latest state level crop progress reports from USDA NASS reporters.

There was a modest improvement in the condition of dry edible bean crops in Michigan during the past week. Despite this, there are concerns with the potential for flooding in beans crops in the lower peninsula because of large amounts of rain.

Minnesota saw little change in the overall condition of edible bean crops. They progressed to 15% in the blooming stage, 4 points ahead of the previous year.

Topsoil moisture supplies in the state were rated 0% very short, 1% short, 78% adequate, and 21% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 0% very short, 2% short, 75% adequate, and 23% surplus.
