Defensive Posture Enters Lentils

VANCOUVER - Jul 11/14 - SNS -- Lentil markets finished the week's trading on an increasingly defensive note over worries about moisture conditions in Saskatchewan.

Provincial estimates that up to three millions acres of crop may not be harvested because of localized flooding and saturated soils in eastern Saskatchewan has left markets nervous about the potential impact on lentil production.

It is a potent reminder that unless moisture conditions change, there is an increasing risk of a low quality harvest on account of damage caused by disease and water.
