MELBOURNE - Apr 18/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A surface trough extends from the Gulf Country down to the Central Highlands. A high pressure system over South Australia is pushing dry air across most of Queensland. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine and sunny over most of the state. Mainly fine with just the chance of some isolated showers about the tropical east coast. Scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms over the far north. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times over the far north.Sunday 20 AprilThe high over southeast Australia should maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of Queensland. The trough north of Queensland should produce areas of thundery rain over the northern Peninsula region. Isolated showers about the North Tropical Coast.Monday 21 AprilThe high will move into the Tasman Sea, yet should still maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of Queensland. The trough over the far north should continue to produce thundery rain over the northern Peninsula.Tuesday 22 AprilFine and mostly sunny across the state except for the far north and the central coast where an upper trough will work with increasing humidity levels to produce scattered showers and isolated storms.Wednesday until FridayShowers and storms over the far north, easing later in the week as the upper trough weakens and moves offshore.
