ST. JOSEPH - Apr 18/14 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Apr 18.
WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW Compared to last week, wheat and soybean bids were higher, while corn and sorghum traded lower ahead of the holiday weekend. Wheat was higher on concerns of cold temperatures in the Southern Plains that could damage winter wheat, along with dry conditions. Temperatures dropped in the low 20s raising concerns as the crop is already suffering from drought conditions. Soybeans found support from a positive NOPA crush report which was much higher than expected at 153.8 mb for the month of March. Corn saw gains early on spillover support from wheat and plantings behind schedule. Late pressure was noted due to the lower soybeans.
