MELBOURNE - Apr 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak surface trough extends from the Gulf Country down to the southeast interior. A high pressure system south of Tasmania is pushing dry air across Queensland's interior. A new high should build over South Australia later in the week, spreading dry air further northwards across Queensland. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine and sunny across the southern districts and the western interior. Isolated showers through eastern districts from the Wide Bay Burnett northwards, tending to scattered showers through the central coast and tropics. Isolated to scattered showers and storms over the state's far north. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.Friday 18 AprilA new high pressure system should enter the Great Australian Bight and push dry air further northwards across Queensland keeping most of the state fine and sunny. Just the chance of some isolated showers about the eastern districts north of Rockhampton, and mainly isolated showers and storms over the state's far north.Saturday 19 AprilThe high should settle over southeast Australia and keep most of Queensland fine and sunny except for some isolated showers about the North Tropical Coast and some isolated showers and storms about the state's far north, mostly near the Gulf of Carpentaria coast.Sunday 20 AprilThe high over southeast Australia should maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across Queensland except for some isolated showers and storms about the far northern tropics.Monday until WednesdayThe high should move into the Tasman Sea on Monday but should still maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of Queensland.
