MELBOURNE - Apr 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system located over the south Tasman Sea extends a ridge across Victoria. This ridge will move over eastern Victoria today. A weak cold front will brush the southwest coast today with a stronger front to rapidly cross Bight waters tonight to reach western Victoria on Friday morning and move across eastern Victoria during the afternoon. The next high pressure system will cross northern Bight waters on Friday, then move over Adelaide on Saturday to reach southern NSW early Sunday. Another cold front will move across Tasmania late on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from local morning fog patches and the chance of a shower in the far southwest. A mild and mostly sunny day with light winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Friday 18 AprilScattered showers developing from the west during the morning, reaching eastern areas in the afternoon, mainly affecting southern and mountain districts. Mainly dry in the far northwest. Mild at first with moderate to fresh northwest wind ahead of a cool fresh to locally strong southwesterly change in the west during the morning then extending to the east in the afternoon.Saturday 19 AprilIsolated showers, mainly about the exposed coast and nearby land areas. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh about the coast.Sunday 20 AprilIsolated showers, mainly about the exposed coast and nearby land areas.
