India's Election Slows Peas

VANCOUVER - Apr 11/14 - SNS -- The world's field pea markets were little changed against the backdrop of relatively light trading interest.

Little demand was reported from India, which is now in the midst of a lengthy national election process which began April 7 and will conclude on May 12, with votes counted on May 16.

The nine phase election was spread over five weeks because of security and logistical concerns. Key votes will take place on April 17 and 24 when 122 and 117 seats respectively will be decided.
