Bean Seedings to Jump 24%

WASHINGTON - Mar 31/14 - SNS -- Dry edible bean growers in the United States intend to boost seeded area by 24% to 1.69 million acres, according to the USDA's seeding intentions estimates for 2014.

Planted area is expected to be higher than last year in 12 of the 18 States in the dry bean estimating program. In North Dakota, the largest producing State, planted area is expected to increase by 180,000 acres, or 41% from a year ago.
