Edible Beans Already a Weather Market

VANCOUVER - Mar 22/14 - SNS -- Weather has already become a major issue in dry edible bean markets, affecting the willingness of exporters in several areas to offer product on spot or new crop markets.

California's lengthy drought is having a significant impact on classes of beans grown in that state, with asking prices soaring over fear of water shortages this spring and summer.

Considered California's worst drought since the 1852, the USDA has declared drought disasters in 56 out of 58 countries. The other important edible bean producing state affected by drought is Colorado, where 15 of 33 counties have been declared drought disasters.
