Argentine Optimism Weakens Dry Beans

VANCOUVER - Mar 15/14 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading with a slightly softer undertone against increased confidence production will rebound in Argentina.

Seeding of this year's black bean crop is considered complete, while white alubia bean seeding is nearing completion in most areas. Some districts report up to 25% of the land still needs to be planted, with rains delaying progress.

The delays have led some growers to suggest they may switch to black beans, partly over concern about the quality of the remaining white alubia planting seed.
