India Continues to Drive Kabuli Market

VANCOUVER - Mar 15/14 - SNS -- Kabuli chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against worries about the status of India's harvest.

The amount of product lost or severely damaged because of unseasonably wet weather ranges between 150,000 and 300,000 metric tons (MT). Markets initially expected a 650,000 MT crop.

This has seen India emerge as a buyer of Mexican origin chickpeas in recent weeks, significantly increasing its premium to Indian origin product.
