SAF Dry Bean Output Jumps 27%

VANCOUVER - Feb 27/14 - SNS -- Dry edible bean production will be up significantly in South Africa this year believes the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

In its first forecast for 2014 summer crops, SAGIS said it expects output to reach 76,570 metric tons (MT) from 55,670 hectares.

If realized, production would be up 27.19% from the 60,200 MT grown last year on 43,550 hectares. This year's increase in seeded area is a clear reaction to higher average trading levels for both white and colored beans.
