California Hay Market Report

MOSES LAKE - Sep 12/08 - SNS -- The latest weekly hay market update for northern California bal;ed hay and alfalfa pellet markets was relesed by the USDA today.

California Weekly Hay Report

Northern California: Tons FOB Barn/Stack:  10,775    Tons Delivered:  9,475
   Compared to last week, Premium and Supreme Alfalfa steady to weak.  Demand
moderate to good and supply light.  Fair and Good Alfalfa steady to 5.00,
instances 10.00-15.00 lower.  Demand light and supply moderate to heavy.  Retail
and stable hay steady.  Demand moderate to good and supply moderate with most
producers filling barns.  Starting to see quality coming back in recent hay
cuttings.  Dairies still resisting adding to hay inventory.  Some still busy with
corn silage.  Milk futures showing some improvement in price.  The
creamery situations keeping folks on edge.  Exporters continue to show interest,
especially in second cutting in the intermountain area.

heavy.  Retail and stable hay mostly steady.  Demand moderate to good and supply
moderate.  Some hay production starting to show quality again.  Dairies still
resisting adding to their inventory.  Milk futures starting to show some
improvement.  Creamery situations making dairies uneasy.  Weather has
cooled off and has been very pleasant this past week.

moderate.  Scattered showers the past week playing havoc with hay production and
adding to lower quality hay that available.  Dairies still resisting buying hay,
exporters not very active and retail clients buying bare minimum.  Milk futures
showing some improvement.
