PORTLAND - Apr 8/08 - SNS -- Feed ingredient markets for the U.S. Pacific Northwest are summarized in the latest weekly report for the region issues by the USDA.
Pacific Northwest Weekly Feed All prices are quoted per ton, unless otherwise noted. Pacific Northwest Market Summary: Feed ingredient offers ended the reporting week on Tuesday, April 8, mixed compared to last Tuesday's offers. Most corn offers moved higher, while canola meal offers moved lower. Soybean meal, whole cottonseed and distillers dried grains offers trended mixed. Barley, wheat millrun and meat and bone meal offers were steady to lower. Offers for oats and suncured alfalfa pellets offers remained steady. Oilseed Meal Markets: Offers for 47 percent protein Soybean Meal, for current rail delivery, were mixed, from 70 cents lower to 4.30 per ton higher at 354.80 to 361.80. Basis offers ranged from 25.00 to 32.00 per ton over the Chicago May soybean meal futures close of 329.80 compared to last Tuesday's basis range of 20.00 to 32.00 per ton over the Chicago May soybean meal futures close of 330.50. Offers for soybean meal truck delivered to the Willamette Valley ranged from 374.80 to 394.80, 70 cents lower to 1.30 per ton higher. Offers for nearby delivered Canola Meal, 34 to 36 percent protein, rail delivered to points between Portland, Oregon and Chehalis, Washington, were 247.80 to 264.80, 70 cents to 2.70 per ton lower compared to last week's offers. Offers for canola meal trans-loaded onto trucks and delivered to the Willamette Valley were also 70 cents to 2.70 lower, ranging from 262.80 to 284.80. Canola Meal offers for truck delivery to points East of the Cascades were 261.80 to 289.80, 70 cents to 2.70 per ton lower. Whole Cottonseed: Whole Cottonseed offers for delivery to points in the Pacific Northwest from the Midsouth in single boxcars were 375.00, mixed, from 5.00 lower to 1.00 per ton higher than week ago offers. Offers for whole cottonseed trans-loaded onto trucks and delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were steady to 1.00 per ton higher, from 392.00 to 400.00. Animal Proteins: Offers for 46 to 50 percent protein Meat and Bone Meal, FOB Seattle plants, were 30.00 lower at 315.00. Offers for meat and bone meal truck delivered to Portland and the Willamette Valley held steady at 345.00, with trading at that level during the week. Wheat Millrun: Feed mill offers for wheat millrun for nearby delivery, loaded truck FOB the flour mill in Portland, were indicated as 170.00 to 190.00 in a very limited test, steady to 10.00 per ton lower compared to week ago indications. Offers for wheat millrun truck delivered to the Willamette Valley were 190.00 to 207.00, also steady to 10.00 lower. Flour mill offers for wheat millrun rail delivered on the Burlington Northern Line to Portland from eastern Washington and eastern Oregon during April through September were 165.00 in a limited test, steady with week ago offers. Offers for wheat millrun FOB eastern Oregon and eastern Washington mills during April through September were indicated as 150.00 per ton, with no recent price comparison available. Alfalfa Products: Offers for Suncured alfalfa pellets, 15 percent protein, delivered by truck to the Willamette Valley, were 260.00 per ton steady, with last Tuesday's offers. Distillers Dried Grains: Distillers Dried Grains delivered by rail to feed mills in the Pacific Northwest were mixed, from 4.00 lower to 5.00 per ton higher at 201.00 to 222.00. Offers for distillers dried grains trans-loaded onto trucks and delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were 216.00 to 239.00, mixed, from 4.00 lower to 4.00 per ton higher than last Tuesday's offers. Coarse Feeding Grains: Offers for US 2 Barley for nearby delivery to Portland in single rail cars for domestic use trended steady to 10.00 lower than last Tuesday's offers of 242.00 to 280.00, in a very limited test. Offers for US 2 Barley rail and truck delivered to the Willamette Valley were generally steady to 10.00 lower compared to last Tuesday's offers, from 266.00 to 295.00. Some barley traders were not issuing offers for nearby delivery. US 2 Yellow Corn offers for rail delivery to points north of Seattle advanced by 2.50 to 3.00 per ton, ranging from 258.75 to 261.75. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to points in the Seattle area were 2.50 to 2.75 per ton higher at 255.00 to 259.75. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to Portland were 2.50 to 3.00 per ton higher at 254.00 to 257.50. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the Willamette Valley trended steady to 2.75 per ton higher at 260.00 to 275.50. US 2 Yellow Corn offers for truck delivery to the Yakima Valley were 2.50 to 6.75 per ton higher at 251.75 to 255.75. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to the Yakima Valley were not well tested. Higher Chicago May corn futures, at 5.91-1/4 compared to last Tuesday's close of 5.84, supported cash corn offers. Offers for US 2 Heavy White Oats were indicated in a very limited test at 230.00 to 245.00, steady with last Tuesday's offers.
