Peas Maintain Firmer UndertoneVANCOUVER - Aug 21/10 - SNS -- Field pea markets maintained a relatively firm undertone through the past week against a general improvement in European values. While markets in France, Belgium and Holland were largely unchanged on the week, grower bids in the United Kingdom surged for both human and livestock consumption peas and beans. Demand for western European feedstocks has been helped by Russia's temporary ban on grain exports. This has left feed mills in western Europe covering in the cancelled contracts from other sources, contributing to improved demand for protein crops such as peas and feed beans.
