U.S. Peas Firm, Canadian EaseVANCOUVER - Feb 27/10 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week's on a mixed note, with markets in the United States supported by ongoing USDA PL-480 food aid tender activity. During the week, the USDA requested offers for 9,000 metric tons (MT) of yellow split peas and 300 MT of whole yellow and green peas for April movement from processing plants. While food aid demand is down roughly 6,000 MT from last season for yellow peas and almost 18,000 MT for green peas, the focus on split peas is getting U.S. processors busy and in a good position to move product growers are trying to sell.
