Lentils Firm on Turkish Export Ban TalkVANCOUVER - Jul 4/08 - SNS -- International lentil markets ended the week’s trading on a strong note following reports in markets that Turkey has banned exports of whole and split lentils. Markets were otherwise quiet as holidays in Canada and the United States shortened the trading week in the world’s dominant producing region. Most Canadian traders were away from their desks Monday and Tuesday; while their counterparts in the United States started leaving their offices early Thursday. National birthdays in the two countries also marks the beginning of the European holiday season, which will see a large segment of the trade take July off, while much of the remainder take off in August.
