Chickpeas Mostly FirmerVANCOUVER - Jun 6/08 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were mostly firmer in light trade during the past week, despite improved selling interest on the part of Indian exporters. Markets are helped by the short crop in Mexico and expectations of sharply reduced production in Canada and the United States, with growers in those countries generally opting to grow cereal grains instead of chickpeas. Reduced North American harvests coincide with smaller crops in Turkey. Pulses in that country are mostly grown in the region which is experiencing drought this year.
