Pessimism Pervades Edible Bean MarketsVANCOUVER - Dec 12/03 - STAT -- Markets have responded to the decline in dry edible bean production in the United States, as reflected in the value of the spot market index for U.S. origin dry edible beans. It has averaged 670 points so far this marketing year, compared to an average of 638 across the entire 2002-03 marketing year. Even so, the index is slightly below the previous year average of 678 points and substantially below the previous 10-year average of 745 points.
