Minnesota Weekly Feed Review

PORTLAND - Dec 9/03 - SNS -- Feed ingredient markets for the U.S. Pacific Northwest are summarized in the latest weekly report for the region issues by the USDA.

Pacific Northwest Weekly Feed

Pacific Northwest Market Summary: Feed ingredient offers for the reporting
week ending on Tuesday, December 9, were mixed compared to last Tuesday's
offers. Soybean meal and canola meal offers were mixed. Corn and meat and bone
meal offers trended higher. Barley offers were steady to lower. Ending the
week on steady trends were offers for Wheat millrun, cane feeding molasses,
whole cottonseed, and oats.

Oilseed Meal Markets: Offers for 47 percent protein Soybean Meal delivered
during December were 70 cents higher to 3.30 lower at 257.30 to 266.30. Basis
offers for December delivery ranged from 24.00 to 33.00 per ton over the Chicago
January soybean meal futures close of 233.30 compared to last Tuesday's basis
range of 28.00 to 33.00 per ton over the Chicago January soybean meal futures
close of 232.60. Slightly higher soybean meal futures were supportive to cash
offers but supplies in the pipeline were plentiful and some traders lowered
their bases in response. Offers for December delivered Canola Meal, 34
to 36 percent protein, rail delivered between Portland, Oregon and Chehalis,
Washington, were 178.30 to 187.30, 1.30 lower to 70 cents higher compared to
last Tuesday's offers. Offers for canola meal truck delivered to the Willamette
Valley during November were also 1.30 lower to 70 cents higher at 192.30 to
201.30. Higher soybean meal futures were supportive to canola meal offers but
supplies were generally adequate to meet light to moderate domestic demand.

Whole Cottonseed: Whole Cottonseed offers for December delivery to points in
the Pacific Northwest from the Midsouth in single boxcars were 190.00 to 195.00,
steady with week ago offers. Offers for whole cottonseed trans-loaded onto
trucks and delivered to the Willamette Valley during December were 206.00 to
209.00, also steady with week ago offers. Supplies were plentiful to cover
nearby demand.

Animal Proteins: Offers for 50 percent protein Meat and Bone Meal, FOB
Seattle plants, advanced by 10.00 per ton at 255.00. Offers for meat and bone
meal delivered to Portland were not well tested but were indicated as steady
with week ago offers of 270.00.

Wheat Millrun: Feed mill offers for wheat millrun for December, loaded truck
FOB the flour mill in Portland, were steady with last Tuesday's offers of 90.00
to 95.00. December offers for wheat millrun truck delivered to Willamette
Valley dairies were also steady with last Tuesday's offer of 98.00. Flour mill
offers rail delivered to Portland during January through March from eastern
Washington were not well tested. Offers for wheat millrun FOB eastern Oregon
flour mills were not well tested as mills were sold out of supplies from
December through March.

Alfalfa Products: Offers for suncured alfalfa pellets, 15 percent protein,
were not well tested but were indicated as steady with week ago offers of 120.00
to 123.00 delivered by truck to the Willamette Valley.

Cane Feeding Molasses: Cane Feeding Molasses offers FOB Seattle were 87.50
per ton, steady with last week's offers. Domestic demand continued to be good
and met in balance with plentiful supplies.

Distillers Dried Grains: Offers for Distillers Dried Grains delivered
during December by rail to feed mills in the Pacific Northwest were not well
tested due to extremely limited nearby supplies. Offers for January were quoted
in a very limited test at 157.00 to 159.00 for rail delivery and 171.00 to
175.00 for truck delivery, with no recent price comparison for January delivery.
