Illinois Grain Prices at Country Elevator

SPRINGFIELD - Dec 9/03 - SNS -- Corn, soybean, wheat and sorghum bids compiled by the USDA and Illinois Department of Agriculture.


Illinois Grain Prices at Country Elevators

This is Tuesday's report of the grain prices and trends prepared by the USDA 
and the Illinois Department of Agriculture.     

Illinois country grain prices were mixed on Tuesday afternoon, with corn and
soybeans higher and wheat lower. Stronger soybean meal prices and higher 
prices for soybeans in the Chinese market boosted prices. Traders are also
hopeful of new soybean and wheat sales, due to the visit of China's Premier
to the US.

In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn 
bids were 1 to 4 cents higher at 2.31-2.39. Soybean bids were 16 to 21 cents 
higher at 7.57-7.77.
 
In Central Illinois country grain elevators quoted shelled corn bids were
1 to 4 cents higher at 2.30-2.46. Soybean bids were 15 to 19 cents 
higher at 7.69-7.85.

In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were 1 to 2 cents
higher at 2.41-2.49. Soybean bids were 15 to 19 cents higher ranging from 
7.74-7.88. Wheat bids were 3 to 6 cents lower at 3.83-3.98. Milo bids were
2 cents lower at 2.49-2.79.

Commercial grain prices paid farmers by Interior Illinois Country Elevators 
after 2.00 p.m. today are listed below in dollars per bushel:
