March 31 Sunflower Stocks Rise

WASHINGTON - Mar 28//24 - SNS -- The quantity of sunflower seed on farms and in commercial positions rose 22% over the previous year, totalling 1.16 billion pounds as of March 1, according to the USDA.

All stocks stored on farms totaled 648 million pounds and off-farm stocks totaled 515 million pounds.

Stocks of oil type sunflower seed are 1.03 billion pounds; of this total, 590 million pounds are on-farm stocks and 444 million pounds are off-farm stocks. Non-oil sunflower stocks totaled 128 million pounds, with 57.6 million pounds stored on the farm and 70.7 million pounds stored off the farm.


U.S. Chickpea Area On The Rise

WASHINGTON - Mar 28/24 - SNS -- Growers intend to plant 429,000 acres of chickpeas, up 17% from the previous year for comparable States, according to the USDA's seeding intentions report.

Small chickpea expected planted area is estimated at 107,000 acres. Area expected to be planted for large chickpeas in 2024 is estimated at 322,000 acres.

Beginning in 2024, chickpea estimates were discontinued in California.
