Frozen Poultry Stocks Jump 7% in JuneWASHINGTON - Jul 20/01 - STAT -- The latest cold storage report from the USDA found stocks of frozen poultry in the United States jumped 7% in June, but were still down 10% from year earlier levels. Numbers compiled by the USDA found there were 1.208 billion pounds of frozen poultry on hand as of June 30, well below the 1.338 billion pound inventory reported at the same time last year. Total stocks of chicken were 3% above last month but were 16% below last year at 690 million pounds. Total pounds of turkey in freezers increased 12% from last month and were 1% above last year at 510 million pounds; while there were 23% more frozen ducks on hand at 8.67 million pounds.
