U.S. Growers Cut Minor Oilseed AreaWASHINGTON - Jun 30/04 - SNS -- There was a general decline in minor oilseed plantings in the United States this year, with growers slashing mustard and safflower plantings, though boosting rapeseed, according to today's USDA seeded area estimates. Safflower growers planted an estimated 142,000 acres, a decrease of 36% from 2003. Safflower area for harvest is forecast at 133,000 acres, down 37% from last year. Planted area of mustard seed is estimated at 68,500 acres, down 41,500 acres from 2003. Mustard seed area for harvest is forecast at 65,900 acres, down 41,100 acres or 38% from the previous year.
