Korean Citrus Output to Leap UpwardSEOUL - Jun 21/04 - SNS -- Jeju citrus production in Korea is expected to jump from around 700,000 metric tons (MT) across the 2003-04 season to over 700,000 MT in 2004-05, despite efforts to reduce citrus production. This is contrary to expectations, because 2004 should have been an off-harvest year within the normal cyclical production pattern, notes the U.S. agricultural attache here. However, based upon the initial survey conducted by the Institute of Agricultural Technology of the Jeju Provincial Government in May 2004, this year's outdoor Unshu orange production is expected to be a bumper crop yielding 650,000 to 690,000 MT.
